This morning we left Oban and headed toward Mallaig to catch
the ferry to Skye.
We had several places
that we wanted to stop to take photos.
On our way into Oban Stalker Castle had been bathed in wonderful light,
this morning it was not.
We took a few
photos anyway and moved on.
The Jubilee Bridge is a good place to get access for photographing Castle Stalker and had an interesting history of it's own. Castle Stalker, built in it's present form in 1446 has been restored several times and is currently fully habitable.

When we got
to the Glenfinnan Viaduct it started to pour.
We waited in the car a bit and the rain eased up into a light drizzle so
we paid for access to the memorial tower and climbed to the top….a bit scary by
the way, crawled out to the outside lookout through a very small narrow
opening, into a pounding wet hail storm.
There was no way to take a photo, or really even see the view.
We climbed back down drenched and had to wade
through an inches deep puddle at the gate!
We drove the rest of the way to Mallaig in wet cloths, wet car, steamy
windows and barely made the ferry!
It
was disappointing not to get a shot but we laughed and had a good time anyway.

| Queued up for the Ferry to Skye |
After departing the ferry we stopped at Armadale Castle
Gardens.
It was about 4:30 when we
arrived
and the museum closed at
5:30.
We toured the museum first and
then the gardens.
Very beautiful gardens
and the museum is more interesting than I expected.
We drove into Portree arriving at about
7:00.
We walked about a mile into town
for dinner, stopped at a great little bookstore.
We didn’t take
the cameras with us when we walked down for dinner and missed getting some
great shots of beautiful light on the bay here in Portree.
It has just been a sad day for
photography!
